SUMMARY:

Accommodates guests of hotel while displaying the highest standards of quality guest service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Audit hotel paperwork to ensure the day has balanced.
  • Posts room charges and taxes to guest accounts.
  • Verifies all hotel paperwork is correct and balanced.
  • Runs preliminary reports.
  • Transmits and receives telephone messages when necessary.
  • Stocks the front desk with daily supplies.
  • Communicates all information to the following shift to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Settles guest accounts with the ability to make good business decisions regarding discounts.
  • Must be knowledgeable in making reservations.
  • Greets guests and provides door service and bell/valet service when needed.
  • Ability to operate a multi-line phone system.
  • Provides guests with information on local attractions.
  • Resolves or refers to management all guest concerns, complaints, or suggestions in a continuous effort to provide superior guest service.
  • Remains current on room rates, room availability, and emergency procedures.
  • Remains current on groups and property events.
  • Ensures management is aware of guest special requests or needs. Ensures guests' profiles are properly noted in the property management system for action by the appropriate hotel department prior to check-in.
  • Provides courteous service to guests and is cordial to all team members.
  • Maintains a good attendance record.
  • Makes and confirms reservations.
  • Posts charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone to ledger.
  • Completes daily-required shift checklist.
  • Must wear required uniform. Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLIITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience. Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

TRAINING NEEDS:

Training in providing quality guest service, telephone etiquette skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift an/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/of move up to 25 pounds.
