Job Description
The Accountant I position is responsible for processing all STCU invoices by loading properly approved invoices and paying invoices timely and accurately. This position also manages all monthly expense accruals and submitting accrued sales taxes to the State. The position administers corporate cards by reconciling and processing all corporate card transactions and employee reimbursements.
Core Job Requirements/Outcomes
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
Job Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in an accounting or finance position, preferably in a financial institution or in a public accounting/auditing position.
Software Skills: Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
Equipment Skills: Proficient with 10-key calculator.
Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 25 pounds with accommodations.
Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Travel Demands: Reliable transportation is required due to occasional travel to branches and other locations within the area.

Job Description
The Accountant I position is responsible for processing all STCU invoices by loading properly approved invoices and paying invoices timely and accurately. This position also manages all monthly expense accruals and submitting accrued sales taxes to the State. The position administers corporate cards by reconciling and processing all corporate card transactions and employee reimbursements.
Core Job Requirements/Outcomes
- Manage the credit union’s accounts payable process by processing invoices for payment including proper vendor set up, correct GL postings, and internal review processes. Continually improve the accounts payable process by identifying and implementing efficiencies.
- Oversee corporate card and employee reimbursements activity by accurately processing payments, reconciling all corporate card transactions and maintaining statement templates.
- Complete daily, monthly or quarterly GL reconciliations by preparing reconciliations on a timely basis and resolving outstanding transactions appropriately. Establish checks and balances to identify errors and ensure accuracy in reconciliations. Ensure daily tasks assigned to the Accounting department are completed accurately and timely each day.
- Represent the Accounting department by providing timely, professional and friendly communication to all we encounter, including staff, members and vendors.
- Support departmental initiatives and projects by contributing as an effective project team member and complete all tasks and assignments in a timely manner.
- Oversee monthly expense accruals by tracking all accrual entries and ensuring the amounts are correct by balancing all entries and filing payments and reports with appropriate third-party vendors.
- Ensure proper accounting controls by completing daily processes timely and accurately.
- Continually cover, complete and cross train on all daily tasks assigned to the Accountants to ensure all daily tasks can be completed independently and accurately each day.
