What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer position at Stelter Company?

Graphic Designers help make a difference in the work of hundreds of nonprofits across the country. This creative team member is responsible for the visual development of our clients’ marketing campaigns which include print and digital design. Our designers are passionate, hard-working, talented people who thrive on collaboration and quality design. The Graphic Designer balances creative ideas and an understanding of current best practices with efficiency and practicality, resulting in high-quality, yet turnkey, solutions for our clients.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are fundamental duties that an individual who holds the position must perform. This is not an exhaustive list. Other duties, in addition to these essential job functions, will be assigned at the discretion of the manager.


Produces visual solutions for use in direct mail and digital campaigns.

  • thinks creatively to produce new ideas and processes
  • uses innovation to refine design ideas to meet the needs of the client
  • has the ability to manage multiple projects at once of a diverse nature
  • uses a wide range of media, including original/stock photography and computer design programs
  • produces accurate, high-quality work
  • practices independent judgment and discretion over matters of significance as it pertains to the creative process
  • meets client deadlines
  • presents design ideas in a proactive way to both internal staff and external clients


Meets and talks with clients to discuss their creative needs

  • accurately interprets a client's needs and translates those requirements into visual solutions
  • develops design ideas by gathering information and data to clarify design projects


Identifies, evaluates and recommends procedural changes as warranted and makes recommendations to Creative Manager

  • contributes ideas and design to the overall creative process
  • keeps abreast of developments in computer software, particularly design programs
  • works well as a team member—with prepress, editorial, strategists, other designers, client success managers, and digital staff
  • develops an awareness of the nonprofit industry and our competition
  • keeps Creative Manager apprised of progress, problems and relevant issues


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated excellent proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite and Mac OS
  • Superior creativity and visual and graphic design abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while simultaneously meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Works professionally and effectively with all internal staff and clients. Accepts constructive criticism and direction

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of one year professional graphic design experience, two years preferred
