Head Counselor
Co-Op Summer Enrichment is a summer program for low income children that emphasizes STEM enrichment alongside camp programming that infuses the joy of summer into all that we do. RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a co-leader of a dedicated group of children for a five-week program that serves elementary children grades 1 to 5- Teach and mentor the Assistant Counselor to give direct guidance and instructions for maximum effectiveness
- Assist children to maximize their participation in STEM and recreation activities led by educators and recreation assistant coaches
- Supervise and assist children in all of their activities with the goals of:
- Promoting collaboration among children & staff
- Establishing a mutual attitude of caring among all children & staff
- Assisting children with acquiring new skills during their program blocks
- Infusing all activities with fun
- Participate fully and with enthusiasm in all orientation week training sessions
- Serve as a role model for children by:
- Arriving on time and fully ready to participate
- Working as a team member with other counselors, assistant counselors and staff
- Taking joy in learning new things with the children
- Supporting a drug free, screen free, healthy environment
- Close each day organizing and restocking your assigned activity room
- Teach or assist during program blocks in a variety of areas such as crafts, nature, science, sports and recreation
- Assist the educator with packing materials at the close of day and week such that the materials are ready for the next day or the next pod
- Swim with children and provide direct swimming instruction based upon training guidelines
- Eat lunch with your assigned group, supervise their behavior in the lunchroom and promote positive free and safe play during recess
- Assist with daily bus pick up and drop off at Mamaroneck Avenue School for a minimum of 10 workdays
- Enforce the highest level of safety for children at all times, including COVID safety protocols
- Maintain accurate attendance records on a daily basis
- Model and enforce all Covid safety requirements at all times
- Be responsible for keeping confidential student emergency data accessible at all times
REQUIREMENTS
Head Counselors must be at least 19 years old by July 1, 2022 or entering their Sophomore year of college- Must have completed high school or GED
- High preference given to applicants with previous experience working with youth
- Social security card and state identification
- Fingerprinting for any non-Mamaroneck School District employee or any new employee (previously fingerprinted Co-Op counselors do not need to be fingerprinted again)
- High swimming competency
- Two references - only one can be a personal (non-family) reference
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination

8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday (weekly staff Meeting)
all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st
SALARY
Base Salary - $2,400- Performance Bonus - up to $250
- Re-signing Bonus - $100
- for previous Co-Op Counselors if application is submitted before April 1, 2022
- Base Salary paid bi-monthly in July and August (3 payments total)
- All bonus payments paid in the last salary check
