Job Description
Stepan is seeking a Benefit Specialist to join our Total Rewards team in Northbrook. In this role, you will report to the Benefits Lead. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and analyzing benefits programs, including health and welfare benefits, retirement, employee recognition, and leave of absence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the benefits onboarding process for new hires
- Responds to employees benefit related questions
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate data
- Processes and administers leave-of-absence requests including FMLA, disability, etc.
- Administers the 401(k) plan by responding to inquiries from employees relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts. Manages the annual retirement plan audit.
- Processes benefit invoice payments
- Assists with the annual open enrollment process
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administration is required
- Proficient knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field is required
