Position Summary
The Senior Tax Analyst will have a strong understanding of direct and indirect tax regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Agility to pivot between income tax and sales and use tax domains is a must. This role will report directly to the Company’s Global Tax Director.
Des Plaines, IL based hybrid position. Working a minimum of 3 days a week from the HuFriedyGroup office is expected with the ability to be in the office more as needed.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret changes in indirect tax (i.e., sales and use tax, property tax, payroll tax, etc.) laws and regulations at the federal, state and local levels.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to determine the taxability of products and services in various jurisdictions.
- Oversee third party providers in filing accurate and timely sales and use tax returns and payroll tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Review and reconcile sales and use tax accounts, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as finance, accounting, and legal teams, to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining sales and use tax compliance systems and software.
- Conduct periodic audits and reviews to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, attending seminars and training sessions as required.
- Provide guidance and support to internal teams regarding indirect tax compliance matters.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to indirect tax compliance.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and consultants, as needed.
- Assist with federal and state income tax compliance; responsible for gathering information and preparing workpapers required for federal and state tax returns.
- Assist with federal and state tax accounting including quarterly ASC 740 provision and related disclosures, workpapers, and journal entries; SSAP 101, etc.
- Assist with federal and state tax planning, identifying and developing federal and state tax savings strategies.
- Gather information and prepare workpapers required for international forms (i.e. 5471s, 8858s, 1118s); coordinate preparation and review with the Company’s external tax accounting firm.
- Provide tax support to other business areas, including payroll and 1099 compliance.
- Manage and optimize tax credits and incentives, such as WOTC, R&D credits, and investment credits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 5 years experience in sales and use tax compliance
- Strong knowledge of sales and use tax laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g. Certified Public Accountant) is a plus
- Prior experience working in a corporate or public accounting environment
- General knowledge in income tax is a plus
