What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chef position at Stillwater Medical?
JOB SUMMARY:
The chef works as a team member of nutrition services at Stillwater medical center providing culinary training and education to all production staff and supervisors following the highest food safety and sanitation protocols. The chef has oversight of all food produced in the department and is directly involved with recipe development and standardized recipes. Ensure the safe and efficient use of all department resources and recommend improvements to services provided while working in partnership with assigned staff. Assist with implementation of all department and hospital programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent; Certified Chef or related culinary degree preferred
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- At least three years previous culinary experience in restaurant and catering settings: Knowledge of cooking techniques, menu planning, menu costing, cost control, inventory knowledge of recipe development and standardizing recipes
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Demonstrate adequate stamina and flexibility to deal with stressful situations, work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team situation
- Ability to work long hours with varied schedule
- Possesses basic computer skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to lift cases of groceries, flour, sugar and containers of food that could weigh up to 50 pounds
- Standing/walking for long periods of time with extensive bending and reaching
- Must be able to talk and hear to converse with others, in person, and over the telephone
- Demonstrates adequate vision to read, prepare labels and to give appropriate portion control Possess fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
- Must be able to read and write and follow oral and written directions

Schedule: Full Time, Days, Full time position. Mostly day shift; weekends and holidays as needed
