What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwright I position at Stimson Job Board?
Your Accountabilites:
- Continuously evaluate and analyze quality, safety and production processes and procedures
- Provide daily shift maintenance and troubleshooting for machine centers and equipment, including maintenance reporting and documentation
- Implement preventative maintenance and troubleshooting programs for machinery and equipment
- Provide thorough maintenance reporting, documentation, inventory of parts and closing records
- Proactively communicate with all departments to ensure proper operation and maintenance of systems and equipment
- Serve as a partner to machine operators to help improve machine efficiency
- Model, implement and comply with all company work and safety rules and related industry regulations
- Regularly educate the maintenance and operations organizations on maintenance and safety programs as they evolve
- Identify and suggest new approaches or best known methods to foster our continuous improvement mentality
- Evaluate and test equipment efficiency and effectiveness and recommend changes for improvement
- Maintain, install, repair, improve and troubleshoot all systems, equipment and machinery in the mill
Your qualifications…
- A minimum of 5 years industrial equipment maintenance experience, experience with sawmill operations preferred
- Proficient in understanding and working with mechanical systems and components commonly found in sawmills, such as conveyor systems, saws, kilns, and de-barkers
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
- Skilled in welding and fabrication techniques for repairing and modifying equipment components
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and diagnose mechanical issues quickly and accurately
- Ability to implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems commonly used in sawmill machinery
- Ability to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot issues related to these systems.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and components associated with sawmill equipment. Knowledge of electrical safety practices and the ability to work alongside electricians when needed
- Experience in implementing preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and reliability of machinery
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues. Knowledge of and compliance with relevant safety regulations in the sawmill industry
- Effective communication with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and address concerns
- Collaborative approach to work, demonstrating the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Willingness to share knowledge and mentor less experienced millwrights or apprentices
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work during non-standard hours or weekends to address urgent maintenance needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team player and highly self-motivated individual
- Makes safety in the workplace a number one priority
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb stairs and move equipment as needed
- Valid driver’s license
- Willing and able to work 4 days per week, 10 hour/day this is a swing shift opportunity hours are 3pm-130am
