Stoel Rives LLP has an immediate opening for a Labor and Employment Paralegal in our Seattle office. This position assists attorneys in the delivery of legal services to the firm's clients and works under the direction of the firm's lawyers and, in many instances, directly with clients. Responsibilities for client work are directed by an attorney.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Technical Information & Research
Highly organized and experienced in litigation, with preference for experience in labor and employment law. Applies knowledge of codes, statutes, regulations and procedures related to the assigned practice area. Conducts pre-claim investigations, legal research and initial case assessments. Obtains records and documents; interviews clients, parties and witnesses; prepares subpoenas; locates expert witnesses; manages litigation review databases; reviews literature and searches databases. Assembles and organizes factual information.
2. Draft Documents
Drafts or assists with drafting interrogatories, requests for production, basic motions, witness and deposition outlines, privilege logs; drafts correspondence to clients.
3. Document Management
Manages collection of discovery documents from clients; manages eDiscovery litigation review databases; manages outside reviewers; manages document productions; maintains collection, production and privilege logs. Oversees disposition of documents at the end of the case.
4. Analysis
Annotates, summarizes or categorizes testimony, documents, physical evidence or other information; assists with determining relevance and privilege; critiques experts' reports.
5. Trial Preparation
Assists with pretrial motions; prepares trial notebooks and trial exhibits; schedules witnesses; files lists of exhibits and witnesses with court; and arranges for trial support services.
6. Client Services
Develops and maintains positive relationships with the firm's clients.
7. Administrative Duties
Performs administrative responsibilities assigned by the practice area or department chair. Examples include disseminating changes in the codes, statutes, regulations and procedures to others in the firm and maintaining current files of forms used in the assigned practice area.

Technical Knowledge
Must have prior experience with online litigation document review databases. Must have a strong understanding of the EDRM. Must have prior experience with or be capable of rapidly understanding, interpreting and applying to various client circumstances the full range of codes, statutes and procedures related to the assigned practice area.
Physical and Mental Capabilities
Must be capable of operating a telephone, calculator, personal computer and printer and learning/using software required to successfully perform job functions, e.g., electronic mail; drafting correspondence and documents; proofreading for correct grammar, punctuation and spelling; reading and interpreting legal correspondence, memoranda, documents, reference publications or reference books and technical manuals in printed form or on a computer screen; occasionally lifting and carrying boxes of files or documents weighing up to 25 pounds; and using a hand truck.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree is preferred. Must have 3 to 5 years of related experience that demonstrates analytical and written research capabilities.
NORMAL WORK HOURS
This position is nonexempt and eligible for overtime compensation. Responsiveness during regular office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. is essential, and the ability to work longer hours is essential during peak workload periods. Occasionally may be required to travel out of town overnight(s) to assist with document productions, attend trial, etc.

The pay range for this position in the State of Washington is $70,000 - $117,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This information is provided per Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunities Act. This salary range is based on market location.
