JOB SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Group Leader will be responsible for warehouse applications throughout the facility including shipping, receiving, and material handling. The goals of this role are ensuring safe/efficient use of team labor, on time/right sized/damage free delivery to internal and external customers, speedy/damage free receipt of materials, accurate material transactions, and a high level of 5S for warehouse areas.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the Receiving, Warehouse and Shipping operational goals in an effective and efficient manner.
- Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors, and evaluates performance of associates; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records, and disciplines, as necessary.
- Administers the accurate recording of inventory transactions by associates as well as creation of documents related to receipts and shipments
- Develops secondary leaders to effectively oversee the daily routines of crew members in the Supervisor's absence.
- Key leader in physical inventory
- Supports provision of appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of all materials.
- Provides for the timely and accurate completion of preventative maintenance prescribed for such equipment.
- Ensures material handling equipment is well maintained
- Oversees the rotation, documentation, and 5S of inventories maintaining accuracy and FIFO (First In, First Out) in on- and off-site warehouse storage areas
- Measures and reports indicators of department accuracy and efficiency
- Supports and proposes continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommends adjustments to staffing and equipment budgets related to warehouse needs
- Teach and enforce company policy including Quality System requirements
- Lead investigation and resolution of receipt and shipment errors/damage.
- Supports PFEP database maintenance as requested
- Assures Warehouse team follows standard work, and are coordinated and efficient
- Works with cross functional team to maintain designated storage throughout facility for raw components, finished goods, and WIP locations
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- B.S. or B.A. in Logistics/Business preferred, or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in materials movement and management
- 2 years of supervisory experience (Manufacturing preferred)
- Demonstrated understanding of ERP methodology & Customer / Supplier data interface
- APICS preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
