As a Mechanical Assembler, you will be trained in an open production environment to be responsible for the preparation, termination and assembly of both copper and fiber cable assemblies. These products are used in military and oil and gas applications.

As a Mechanical Assembler, you will be trained in an open production environment to be responsible for the preparation, termination and assembly of both copper and fiber cable assemblies. These products are used in military and oil and gas applications.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assembles mechanical / fiber optic parts, pieces, or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a specific area/s of a production line.
- Review raw material identification and traceability.
- Reads and follows basic blueprints, diagrams, drawings, specifications, bill of materials and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble copper and fiber connectors and assemblies.
- Prepares and cuts cable and performs fiber and copper cable termination using a selection of hand tools, soldering equipment, heat guns to ensure the products meet quality standards.
- Perform quality work checks.
- Operate epoxy or mold dispensing systems, automated crimping and cable stripping equipment, fiber polishing equipment and inspection equipment.
- Maintains a clean workstation and safe work area.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have one plus years of experience, which can include internship, project, or lab experience.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical symbols, schematics, drawings, blueprints and/or customer specifications.
- Hands on mechanical skills and competence in using a variety on hand tools and equipment, such as strippers, crimpers, heat guns, soldering iron, micrometers, calipers, taper measures, etc.
- Willingness to learn and pay attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Fluent in writing, reading, and understanding English.
- Must be able to work from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Must be punctual and possess good reliable transportation.
- Must be able to complete a background check and drug screen.
- AS Degree in related scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Production related experience with Fiber Optic or copper cables desired.
- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop and bend for extended periods of time.
- Must have dexterity of hands, fingers, and arms to reach, climb or balance and to operate hand tools, controls and manage other specific tools or equipment.
- Must be able to regularly lift and transport up to fifteen pounds.
- Must have the ability to move from place to place within the work environment.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
