Machinist Intern

Company Description

Stre Designs is a machine shop located near Cannonsburg, MI. We are a job shop focusing on prototyping and production of high quality machined components primarily in the furnishing and lighting industries. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Set up and run various machines.
• Inspect work using inspection equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
• Ability to look at and understand 3D CAD models, preferred experience with Fusion 360.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Cleaning, packaging, and preparing products/parts for the end customer.
• Meet expectations for productivity and quality for delivery objectives.
• Collaborates with others, is open-minded, responsive, and supportive of others' efforts.
• Demonstrates integrity by being dependable, having good judgment, being honest, and taking responsibility for their actions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/experience:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry level with some machining experience.
• Preferably someone in a machine tool program.
• A good attitude and self-motivation.
• Good mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills.
• A willingness to learn new machining skills.
• Good mathematical skills.
• The ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Frequent walking and standing.
• Occasional bending, reaching and twisting.
• Use of hands and fine movements
• Lift, move, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with moderate noise levels.
• Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.

Work Schedule

This is a part time position,  approximately 20 hours per week and dependent on business needs along with candidates schedule. We are willing to be flexible within reason.
