The Overnight Pastry Baker is responsible for producing all pastries and desserts during overnight shifts in the restaurant. Working independently, they ensure the timely and accurate preparation of beautiful and delicious baked items while maintaining quality standards.

Who is Strong Arm Baking?

Strong Arm Baking started as a home-based business 10 years ago and now operates with a 70-person team of smart, dedicated, talented individuals. We sell our products out of our shop in downtown Oxford, and to several dozen wholesale partners throughout the triangle. We also deliver 'Porch Drop', full meals and thoughtfully prepared breads and pastries to 300 customers' homes weekly.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Bake and prepare pastries throughout the night for delivery to homes, wholesale partners and for the shop.
• Independently oversee the preparation of all food items during overnight shifts to meet food safety and culinary excellence standards.
• Set up work stations according to bakery-pastry shop guidelines.
• Prepare and bake recipes accurately and efficiently.
• Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as directed.
• Utilize standardized prep lists to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Adhere to written company procedures accurately.
• Perform additional tasks as requested.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficient in pastry techniques, professional baking, or equivalent experience.
• Creative flair and passion for experimenting with flavors, textures, and presentations.Genuine interest in food and serving others.
• Understanding of quality baking ingredients and their creative applications.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Understand the importance of note taking, strong communication, and other techniques that promote quick and successful learning.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. Willingness to maintain flexible availability to accommodate for busier baking seasons.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the job. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.This job is fast paced, and the correct applicant must be able to operate under pressure and with important time constraints.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year working in the service industry, or similar demanding and physically challenging jobs.
• Experience in working 3rd shift preferred.
