Director of Human Resources

Reports to: COO

Summary: The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall human resource (HR) function and developing and executing HR strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of Structures, Inc. This position requires strength in all HR functional areas, with an emphasis on recruiting, talent management, change and relationship management, organizational and performance management, training and development, HR policy and safety management. As a member of the senior leadership team (SLT), the Director provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and collaborating with the COO and the SLT.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Strategically design and implement a comprehensive people strategy, tailored to diverse roles from construction crew members to SLT executives, ensuring scalability and adaptability to support organizational expansion into new regions nationwide.
  • Innovatively craft and execute plans and initiatives that align with overarching business growth and operational objectives, driving sustainable success through HR strategies and solutions (e.g., health & wellness workshops, manager training programs, flexible work arrangements).
  • Lead all aspects of talent management, including talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, leadership development, training, and compensation/benefits design, ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives and fostering a culture of growth and retention.
  • Devise and execute comprehensive plans to address human capital requirements in alignment with strategic goals, encompassing retention strategies and development initiatives to drive organizational success and sustain a thriving workforce. ○ Develop and implement comprehensive compensation plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
  • Function as a strategic business advisor to the SLT and senior management of each department regarding key organizational and management issues.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relation issues. As required, conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with outside employment counsel (as needed).
  • Administer the company’s Safety program: ○ Review and update monthly all site-specific safety plans with project teams. ○ Implement, manage, and document all incident reports. ○ Record and compile data for yearly OSHA logs. ○ Partner with Workers Compensation insurance to properly manage all claims/potential claims.
  • As the business scales, hire, train, develop and manage members of the HR team.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, varied HRIS and ATS software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Required Education and Experience:
  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including 3 years in commercial construction and/or manufacturing industries.
  • Demonstrated background in recruiting and development.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, local safety laws and other regulatory agencies.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Experience dealing with construction unions.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms (e.g. Bamboo) and construction management software (e.g., Fieldwire).
