Position Summary
This young adult crew will be working in Rock Creek Park (the largest park in Washington, DC) and along the southernmost section of the C&O Canal National Historical Park towpath. The crew will be comprised of three young adult members (18 years of age or older) and one crew leader (21 years of age or older). The crew will be working in partnership with National Park Service staff to complete necessary conservation field-based projects. The focus of the team will be installing wayfinding signage for visitor use. The crew will work to improve the visitor experience by installing updated trail signage, inventory, and clean existing signage, and ensuring trails are well marked.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Guide and inspire a team of 3 crew members to complete field conservation projects at various areas of Rock Creek Park and the C&O Canal National Historical Park near Washington, DC; Complete necessary conservation field-based projects as directed by NPS; Install Park signage for visitor use; Crew will work to improve the visitor experience by installing updated trail signage; Inventory and clean existing signage; Work to ensure trails are well marked; Safety while working outdoors; Crew leader administrative tasks that include things such as timesheets, budget management, email correspondence, data collection, project outcome reporting, feedback surveys, among other admin tasks; After passing SCA MVR check and driver safety courses, Leader must be able to transport crew from morning pick-up, worksites, and afternoon drop off in the DC metro area in the SCA rental van
Marginal Duties
Crew leaders should expect to complete ~3-5 hours/weekly to complete crew leader administration tasks. These tasks may include coding expense receipts, uploading photos from the field, writing incident reports, attending weekly staff check-in meetings, or reviewing member time logs, among other things.
Required Qualifications
Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more; Must be able to attend Crew Leader training; Must be a minimum of 21 years of age; Must have the ability to legally work in the US; Must have a valid driver's license for 3 years and pass SCA Motor Vehicle Report standards; Must be able to meet SCA's criminal background check standards; Housing is not provided, Leader must be locally available
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with youth or young adults, teaching or environmental education preferred; Leaders will work in new outdoor environments, being excited and open to new experiences is strongly desired; Experience working in a team; Open to learning new skills, more about conservation, and environmental education

Compensation
$800/weekly pay, 40-hours per week, bi-weekly pay; $45 cell phone stipend
