Information specific to this position:
Title of position: NEWCOMER Mental Health Specialist (There are 2 positions available.)
This position will be member(s) of PSD’s Mental Health Team who specifically serve Poudre School District’s Newcomer Students or students who are still non-English proficient (NEP). Newcomer students are students who are within their first two years of learning English as another language and have moved to the United States in recent years.
Other requirements:
- Bilingual in Spanish required
- Advanced and above (Level C1 or C2) for oral domains (speaking and listening)
- Upper intermediate or above (at least B2) for reading and writing levels (https://tracktest.eu/english-levels-cefr/)
- Culturally responsive methodologies/practices
- High levels of Cultural Competence Knowledge of Culturalization Trauma
- Trauma-Informed practices
- Ability and flexibility to collaborate with a larger team including Language Culture and Equity Staff, School Staff, in addition to Student Services
- Ability to be itinerant and travel between schools
- Willingness to collaborate with community resources and partnerships specifically to support the culturally and linguistically diverse community
Percentage: 100%
Start date: August 2023

Additional Information:
Must have a valid Colorado Educator's License with appropriate endorsement.
Pay for this position is determined by the Licensed Educator Salary Schedule based on years of experience and education.
This is a probationary position. However, PSD employees currently under a licensed contract may apply for this position if selected, will retain contract status.
