Suarez Bakery & Barra is a bakery and Cuban-inspired counter service spot in Charlotte's Optimist Hall dealing in pastries, sammies, coffees, and good times.
We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, kitchen management, and customer service. The Chef will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring food safety and quality standards are met, and ensuring that all orders are prepared in a timely manner. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining inventory. English/Spanish bilingual is preferred.
Must be ServSafe certified (or able to become certified) and available mornings and afternoons.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the kitchen staff and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all food safety regulations are followed.
- Maintain food quality standards according to company menu consisting of Cuban dishes including pressed sandwiches, rice bowls, and other snacks.
- Coordinate bread and dessert deliveries with our Park Road bakery.
- Order food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Monitor food costs and labor costs to ensure that they remain within budget.
- Hire and train kitchen staff on proper food handling techniques, safety protocols, and sanitation practices.
- Ensure that the kitchen is clean and organized at all times.
