What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager-Production position at SubCom?
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations and longer-term planning for manufacturing functions, including manufacturing, production scheduling, inventory control, and quality.
- Defines goals for manufacturing teams and resolves manufacturing problems.
- Develops operations related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures for manufacturing teams.
- Support analyzing customer demand against existing capacity and driving effective and timely implementation of CER's to continuously improve deliveries, costs and quality.
- Responsible for analyzing manufacturing variances and identifying root cause. Assign projects to owning disciplines for implementation of corrective action. Measure for effectiveness to continuously improve manufacturing margins.
- Responsible for continuously improving standard costs associated with the manufacturing processes. Assign projects for standard cost improvements. Measure for effectiveness of improvement to meet customers’ productivity expectations.
- Responsible for analyzing delivery and quality constraints. Use DMAIC process to identify root cause and assign projects within team for implementation of corrective action. Measure for effectiveness to continuously improve and control delivery and quality performance.
- Responsible for assessing skills within the manufacturing team and matching skills to requirements. Identify areas where improvement of skills is required and implement training plan to meet requirements.
- Responsible for continuously driving towards lean manufacturing through the elimination of redundancy and waste.
- Plays a key role in the capacity planning process and leads the implementation of new capacity when needed.
- Supports the organization on the introduction of new products in associated work area.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business; with advanced degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and additional operational experience will be considered.
- Project leadership experience, with strong organization and project management skills, required.
- Knowledge of Operations Management and contemporary manufacturing/quality methods and systems, required.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control, preferred.
- Lean, Six Sigma, TPS, or DMAIC experience is strongly desired.
- Demonstrated motivational and leadership skills, required.
- Previous experience managing people and effective employee relation skills, required.
- Experience with computer-based Manufacturing Information Systems, desirable.
- Experience with Inventory Management/Control systems, desirable.
- Working knowledge of MRP II planning and execution concepts, preferred.

- Regularly lift and/or move 40 pounds. Anything heavier than 40 pounds requires additional assistance
