Position Overview
The Materials Planner is responsible for preparing and issuing detailed material delivery schedules as well as ensuring efficient use of manufacturing resources by coordinating schedule requirements. This position works with minimal supervision and must be able to work with people on all organizational levels inside and outside our facility.
Duties and Responsibilities (*Indicates an Essential Function)
- *Proficiently and accurately prepares, and issues detailed material delivery schedules, based on MRP requirements, to Purchasing with a focus on zero stock outs and minimizing excess inventory
- *Sets up and periodically reviews safety stock requirements for long lead and high demand materials
- *Performs periodic (month-end) physical inventories and participates in the cycle count program
- *Plans and coordinates material logistics using the Oracle ERP system
- Promotes job and process improvement (LEAN) as it relates to material flow, inventory turns and accuracy
- *Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
- *Accepts responsibility and accountability for his/her actions
- Works with minimal supervision and closely with people on all organizational levels both in and outside of SubCom
- Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required
- Provide Training to other Material Planners
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or a minimum of five years’ experience in material planning
- Strong background and experience utilizing MRP is a must
- Extensive computer experience working with MS Office; strong Excel skills are required (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas)
- Proficiency with MS Outlook as well as with an ERP software (Oracle preferred) is required
- Ability to pay attention to details and possess strong organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and possess a positive communication style
- Possess strong, independent problem-solving skills
- Ability to speak, read and write English fluently
