What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Office Manager position at Suffolk Oral Surgery?
Job Summary
The Office Manager is responsible for greeting and checking in patients, updating patient files, answering phones, creating appointments, insurance authorizations, reviewing patient treatment plans, and preparing hospital cases. Some other clerical duties may include but are not limited to faxing and scanning. In addition, the Office Manager acts as liaison between Assistants and Administrator in regard to time off requests, payroll inquiries, etc.
General Accountabilities
- Monitors weekly staff time sheets.
- Coordinates call outs, time off request, and other staff requests with Administrator.
- Handles any office issues that may come up on a daily basis.
- Greets patients and obtains name and other pertinent information. Notifies appropriate individuals of patient's arrival and prepares routing slip if needed.
- Checks patients out and collects payment for services.
- Answers phones and routes calls. Accurately takes messages when needed.
- Schedules patient appointments, answers general questions, obtains authorizations and pre-authorizations for patient care services from insurance companies. Corresponds with patients general dentists as needed.
- Processes insurance forms as needed.
- Coordinates submission of appropriate charges to billing department.
- Inserts laboratory results and other pertinent information into digital patient charts.
- Files charts according to established procedures.
- Provides assistance in the day-to-day administration of department.
- Establishes and maintains digital files and records.
