What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sous Chef position at Sulgrave Club?
The Sulgrave Club, an eighty-nine-year-old, Private Club on Dupont Circle is searching for a dynamic Sous Chef to join our culinary team
The Club functions as a high-end, boutique hotel with fine dining. We are open for service for our members and their guests seven days a week.
The position is open to an experienced sous chef or a fine dining cook ready for the next step.
The Sous Chef will work at the direction of the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef and supervises and assists in all aspects of food preparation for dining room, private parties, special events and club functions. The Sous Chef assists in supervision of sanitation of food facilities and equipment. The position directly supervises kitchen staff to include cooks, pantry personnel and kitchen stewards. The Chef needs to work well with both the front and back of the house staff and enjoys being out front promoting and communicating culinary insights with the membership.
Some of the requirements that will be necessary for our Sous Chef to succeed are:
- Ability to handle pressure, creativity to offer a diversity of items and an approach that facilitates communication and a sense of unity.
- Operating within all mandatory guidelines, policies and standards of operations as they relate to Food & Beverage. Candidate is required to be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and be able to work standing
- Ensuring that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained

The Club, housed in a registered historic landmark, offers a variety of beautiful venues that bring a touch of classic elegance to any event. From small lunches to large corporate events every detail is considered.
Salary : $53,000 - $65,000
