The anticipated salary range for this role is between $123,000.00 and $180,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The Business Management IT Group is currently seeking a Business Manager. The group’s purpose is to accelerate our organization’s rate of change by working with the stakeholders to identify current practices and process, explore opportunities for improvement. The primary responsibility of the Business Manager - Technology is to work closely with the Business Managers for the Chief Information Officer ("CIO") department to help facilitate the execution of the target operating model. This role will support both the SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. ("CM") and SMBC Nikko Securities America, Inc. ("Nikko") entities.
This position is also responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders on vendor management, reporting, dashboards and senior management level presentations aligned with the book of work for the Technology organization. The individual will be expected to manage staff and work collaboratively across numerous areas/departments in an effort to help drive operational efficiencies. Key stakeholder engagement will be expected with the Front Office, Planning, Operations, Finance, Technology and Human Resources teams.
Role Objectives
- Lead the effort to plan and streamline the current budgeting process and standardize across two entities.
- Build a team to implement and enhance existing financial processes and align across all entities.
- Work closely with the CIO Business Manager to consolidate the CM and Nikko financial and headcount data / information into a single representation for senior management.
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of monthly working papers for the CIO Business Manager for senior-level discussion
- Produce high quality workflow diagrams, documents, presentations and dashboards for reviewing key performance indicators
- Assist in the preparation of HR/Recruitment reports specific to Technology Organization
- Effectively manage multiple projects/requests across the changing priorities of the various product areas and collaborate within multiple stakeholders where appropriate
- Investigate and identify areas for improvements to the existing structure
Qualifications and Skills
- 7 years of professional experience working in Vendor/Financial Management. Prior professional experience in Financial Services is helpful.
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with senior management, all levels of support and business partners
- High level customer service mindset with a commitment to supporting key stakeholders
- Forward thinker who seeks to improve business processes that deliver better services. Ability to creatively identify opportunities for process improvements
- Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with ability to quickly learn new programs and applications
- Education required: BA/BS, Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration or related fields.
