What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant - PRN position at Summa Health?
Prepares patients and performs specified testing under supervision. Assists physician in performance of additional eye procedures. Performs light clerical duties and confidentially maintains patient electronic medical health record
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Completion of an approved Ophthalmic Technician /Assistant Program or two (2) years equivalent experience in an ophthalmic setting
2. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to position patients and operate sophisticated Ophthalmic equipment.
b. Near visual acuity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to perform testing via various diagnostic equipment and administer topical eye preparations.
c. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with patients, physicians, and hospital staff.
d. Must maintain confidentiality of patient information.
e. Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.
f. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
3. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount
of force frequently.
The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
