We're looking for a financial whiz with a comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) pronouncements. Your expertise in financial statement preparation, knowledge and application of GAAP and GASB, solution mining, budgetary practices, people management, and training will make you stand out.
The Schedule:
This position is expected to work a hybrid schedule, working on-site 2-3 days per week, however, a fully remote working arrangement would be considered if the candidate possesses in-depth finance experience.
The Day to Day:
- Take charge of professional accounting and budgetary activities, ensuring compliance with laws, codes, and organizational policies.
- Coordinate financial functions like Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Reporting, Internal Controls, and Cashiering, seamlessly integrating them into the general ledger.
- Manage system controls and segregation of duties related to financial systems.
- Responsible for and support of automation of accounting functions and processes while staying compliant with laws and regulations.
- Responsible for analyzing complex accounting situations and providing solutions to success.
- Provide vital administrative support for designated budgets and accounts, meticulously monitoring, evaluating, and reconciling.
- Prepare, develop, and audit a variety of financial reports, statements, and records, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Manage cash, bank accounts, and bond funds, ensuring reserves are maintained and compliance with debt covenants.
- Supervise a team of awesome accountants and help them thrive in their roles.
- Collaborate with District managers, offering expert consultation on accounting and budgetary activities.
- Lead special accounting projects, contributing to the resolution of financial issues consistency,
- Responsible for annual audit coordination, development, and outcomes.
- Responsible for all accounting procedures with applicable GASB and GAAP regulations, staying abreast of current and upcoming changes to accounting practices, as well as regulations and adjusting policies and procedures accordingly.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's license within 30 days of full-time employment and be insurable under District's standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university. CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in managing financial system controls, access and audit log reporting preferred.
- Experience: Seven (7) years of progressive accounting and auditing experience, with a preference for government accounting expertise.
- Advanced experience in excel and analyzing complex accounting data is preferred.
- Experience with Dynamics GP, Power BI (PBI), and SharePoint is preferred.
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first two (2) years of employment.
Pay Range
The hiring range for this role is $103,582.89 to 129,473.15. The overall pay range for this role is $103,582.89 to $155,363.40. We are committed to recognizing and retaining high performing employees and have performance-based annual merit increases, cost of living adjustments and annual market evaluations to make sure we are paying competitively.

Salary : $103,583 - $155,363
