Position Objectives:
- Estate Planning-Focused Duties:
- Work directly with clients to understand their estate planning objectives and needs and advise them on appropriate options.
- Using Summerall Law forms and processes, provide clients with draft estate plans within one week of the initial meeting (or faster if the client requires a quick turnaround).
- Proactively and charmingly and consistently engage with clients regarding any questions about, or updates to, their draft estate plan so the draft is ready for signature two weeks after the initial meeting (or on other timelines requested by clients).
- Guide clients through estate plan signing meetings and advise them on trust-funding and maintenance.
- Other Duties:
- Conduct legal and factual research related to any legal issues requested by Kelly and Sarah or needed for client service.
- Support probate and trust litigation matters as needed.
- Keep Sarah and Kelly appropriately updated on client needs and questions.
- Follow all Summerall Law procedures regarding confidentiality, time-tracking, billing, client communication, and document management.
Position Requirements
- Excellent entry-level candidates considered, experience working in estate planning and handling trust administration and probate matters, or trust litigation matters preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills
- Ability to work autonomously (self-starter, self-managed) and as part of a team
- Outstanding organizational abilities
- Strong work ethic and high level of integrity
- Love learning and new challenges. This job will require adaptability and will push you to grow.
- California bar license and persuasive cover letter required.
- Must be willing to become a notary.
- Second Language Highly Preferred.
- Schedule is off-hours/best hours for clients. Generally, 12-8 Monday through Thursday, shorter day on Friday and then a required half-day on every other Saturday. Schedule to be discussed, accommodations possible.
- Position may include work in Oakland, San Francisco, San Ramon and Pleasanton offices--Position is primarily remote during COVID-19; fully remote options available.
Compensation: Depending on experience/expertise, hours, and bonus structure.
