Sun Country Airlines is seeking a Reliability Engineer to provide continuous review and evaluation of aircraft and component reliability, reporting such reliability to Sun Country management, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), and regulatory authorities, as required by CFR, and responsible for driving improvement in reliability performance through the methods and procedures of the Continuous Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS).

Reliability Engineer Overview:
The Technical Services Reliability Engineer is responsible for continuous review and evaluation of aircraft and component reliability, reporting such reliability to Sun Country management, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), and regulatory authorities, as required by CFR, and responsible for driving improvement in reliability performance through the methods and procedures of the Continuous Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS).
Essential roles and responsibilities of a Reliability Engineer:

- Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines.
- Responsible for continuous review and evaluation of all reliability and alert levels in their effectiveness of revealing trends in support of company goals.
- Oversee all collection and review of the daily aircraft and maintenance performance data, component change information, and maintenance-incurred delays for trend evaluation purposes.
- Ability to conduct analysis of complex data sets, correlate and draw conclusions to support investments in corrective actions
- Prepare and present the monthly Reliability Control Board (RCB) meeting and all generated analysis and research.
- Perform ongoing analysis of all Sun Country Airlines’ Maintenance Programs to determine their effectiveness of maintaining a fleet mechanical dispatch reliability rate within company goals.
- Collect and review reports of the daily aircraft and maintenance performance data, parts change information and maintenance-incurred delays for trend evaluation purposes.
- Establish and utilize reliability target KPI’s (Delays, Cancels, MDR/TDR, unscheduled aircraft out of service, ETOPS, LLM), risk information, and other data to make sound recommendations for reliability performance improvement
- Review and monitor significant aircraft defects, recurring defects, dispatch reliability, MEL usage, MEL deviation and to highlight trends and identify root causes.
- Lead root cause analysis activities for events and providing risk assessment, containment, and corrective action recommendations based on facts and data to leadership
- Collaborate directly with stakeholder teams in leading projects to identify reliability performance improvement opportunities to drive the implementation of corrective actions
- Create and embrace the culture of preventive and predictive reliability maintenance using Best-in-Class Aircraft Health Monitoring (AHM) tools
- Introduce ideas and solutions for efficiency and reliability improvements
- Audit all daily log page, non-routine and maintenance planning card generated aircraft discrepancies for ATA coding accuracy in support of identifying repeat aircraft discrepancies.
- Identify and electronically submit to the FAA all fleet anomalies requiring submission of a Service Difficulty Report and MIS Report.
- Provide reliability leadership by mentoring, advising, and training development on processes and reliability initiatives
- Identify, investigate an analyze performance deterioration of rotable airframe components/aircraft using qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Prepare and analyze MTBUR charts, Failure Pareto Charts, and Weibull Analysis for failure trends
- Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) which involves reviewing components, assemblies, and subsystems to identify failure modes, and their causes and effects.
- Personable with the ability to lead and coach a high caliber Technical Operations team toward world-class levels of reliability/dependability
- Work closely with OEM, vendors, and other key stakeholders for benchmarking and performance improvement
- Represent Sun Country Airlines at industry conferences
The qualifications we are looking for in a Reliability Engineer include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical Engineering or other equivalent technical degree
- Ability to develop a detailed understanding of aircraft systems, typical failure modes, and test methods
- Experience in failure mode assessment and advanced field reliability monitoring concepts
- Experience in KPI creation and reliability forecast modeling
- Ability to understand FAA regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to include advanced Excel
- Strong communication and presentation/facilitation skills
- Strong analytical skills to deep dive into data
- Ability to turn complex compliance requirements into scalable processes
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Proven problem-solver
- Work effectively with minimal supervision under stressful situations
- Personable with the ability to lead and coach a high caliber Technical Operations team toward world-class levels of reliability/dependability
- PREFERRED SKILLS
- Masters-level engineering or similar technical degree with 2 years hands-on experience in Reliability Engineering
- Safety Management System (SMS) experience
- MS Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, Access data bases
- Statistics knowledge
- TRAX
