Position Title:  Treater                                                                      Salary/ Hourly:  Hourly

General Summary:

The Treating Plant Operator is responsible for treating all wood products, mixing chemical treatments, operating treatment equipment, and treating inventory, as scheduled by the Treating Manager, while maintaining environmental and safety compliance.

Requirements Knowledge:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma/ GED required
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams)
  • Successfully pass a drug test

Principal Duties/ Responsibilities  

  • Monitor and mix chemical treating solutions within variance tolerances
  • Use appropriate formulas to calculate treating for every charge.
  • Operate treating equipment: software, pumps, valves, etc.
  • Monitor treating processes and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Properly fill out paperwork
  • Work with Quality Control technician to maintain product standards i.e. retention and penetration
  • Perform appropriate cylinder washout procedures when changing treatments, while following all safety protocols.
  • Maintain treating records.
  • Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non compliant issues.
  • Record all lumber being treated
  • Keep up with chemical levels to inform supervisor when chemical needs to be purchased
  • Efficiently to meet all production goals
  • Adept to have quality control competency
  • Update treating lists at end of shift (what was and was not treated)
  • Direct all chemical trucks to appropriate valves and verification
  • Communicate pad space with Supervisor
  • Other duties as directed.
