Job Title: Montessori Guide

Classification: 1.0 FTE
Starting Annual Salary: $50,000; depending on qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, 1-3 years of experience working with children in a school, willingness to earn an AMI diploma
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field, AMI Diploma, 1-3 years of experience as a Guide

Organization and Program Description:
Sunny Hollow Montessori is an established, AMI-accredited school in St. Paul, Minnesota, that serves approximately 180 students in Toddler through Junior High programs. Believing that all children hold infinite potential, Sunny Hollow’s shared purpose is to cultivate life-long learners and to empower every child to create a more just and harmonious world.
Job Purpose: The Guide is the educational leader of the classroom with the primary responsibility of creating an authentic Montessori learning environment to support the developmental needs of children.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain a high-quality Montessori learning environment for optimal growth and development
- Plan presentations for the children and maintain accurate and complete student records
- Use the analysis of assessment data, as relevant, to make curricular and instructional decisions, including intervention for individual and groups of students
- Establish a community based on freedom and responsibility
- Lead team meetings and coach the Assistant Guide
- Lead family conferences twice per year and as needed
- Collaborate with faculty colleagues to support student transition between levels
- Participate in 1 on 1, program-level, cross-level, and child study meetings as requested
- Participate in family education and retention events as requested
- Set professional goals annually and complete annual professional development that supports these goals
