About us
Sunnyside is a not-for-profit Senior Living life plan community situated on 150 acres in the rolling hills of the Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg, Virginia. More than 500 residents call Sunnyside home. Sunnyside is currently seeking a Cook to join our team in support of the dining needs of our Assisted Living and Long-Term Care residents. This position is currently available part-time, 5:30am-2:00pm, and every other weekend is included.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures at which ingredients must be kept and to which food must be prepared to avoid foodborne illness
- Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating on dishes
- Interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of other people, such as waitstaff, dishwashers, management and sometimes customers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Comprehension and organization to correctly prepare dishes to the standards of Dining Services

- Restaurant experience: 1 year (Preferred)

- COVID-19 vaccination is required
- ServSafe certification, or willingness to obtain
- The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting and dicing
- Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle heat and work shifts
- The employee is frequently required to routinely sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 30 lbs or less and occasionally more than 40 lbs.
