Manager, Consumer Public Relations
SunPower is a residential solar company with a 35 year history of leadership in innovation and sales. At a time when energy prices rising, consumers are experiencing more grid blackouts than ever, and the impacts of climate change are increasing in severity and frequency, transitioning to affordable, reliable, and renewable energy is more important than ever.
As we work to reach the nearly 100 million homes that could save money by switching to solar and expand ecosystem serve all our customers’ expanding home energy needs to include storage, EV charging and more, we are looking for a public relations manager to help communicate the many benefits of renewable energy and SunPower’s products and services to a consumer audience.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop and execute on overarching consumer PR strategy that drives awareness for SunPower and creates positive association with the brand
- Work closely with PR agency to secure regular coverage in national and local media, while also maintaining relationships with key reporters
- Evaluate media opportunities, help prepare executives for media briefings and facilitate interviews
- Work closely with Director of PR to write business and product news announcements and develop and execute external communications strategy around them
- Build strategy around and own additional methods of driving brand awareness, such as speaking opportunities, awards, strategic sponsorships, etc.
- Work closely with corporate PR manager and cross functional teams in sales and marketing to ensure PR outputs are coordinated with and disseminated across channels
- Manage influencer engagement and other paid PR opportunities
- Analyze coverage and other external communications outputs and develop effective reporting structure on the impact of PR efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of related experience
- Experience working with consumer brands and leading media relations in mainstream print, online and broadcast outlets
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
- You work quickly, resourcefully, and independently but are comfortable routinely integrating with other team members across roles/departments
- Experience working directly with executives and key stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with influencers, creators and/or celebrity spokespersons
- Experience executing paid / sponsored media strategies
- Experience working with marketing and social media teams to connect public relations to broader marketing strategies
- Experience working with public companies
