What are the responsibilities and job description for the IRME position at Sunrun?

Overview
The IRME is a mission critical position at Sunrun. The IRME holds the responsibility to ensure that installations are completed according to all local, state, and federal codes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and administrative direction and training to Field Operations to ensure installations conform to design plans as well as local and national electrical, fire and safety codes
  • Provide quality control on electrical plans and electrical work on job sites
  • Review construction contracts
  • Promptly identify code, standard, or law violations; work with leadership to efficiently remediate such violations and enforce compliance with such codes, standards and laws
  • Manage and supervise directly or through qualified subordinates, the work performed under your Licenses
  • Supervise and inspect all work directly or through trained Sunrun employees
  • As mandated by the local jurisdiction, review and/or sign and/or seal permit applications for construction work and related documentation submitted for approval to the local permitting authority
  • Be available to local inspectors to answer any questions and address/correct any concerns
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of supervisory activities
  • Travel to Branches or Sunrun facilities to take part in ongoing training and RME discussions
  • Provide input as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on construction practises within your area of licensure and how best to implement them
  • Attend video calls or phone calls as needed with both the FE&Q team and the Safety organization

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience
  • Prepare for and take all examinations necessary to qualify Sunrun to do business under your Licenses as an electrical contractor in the Region
  • Meet any moral character, background check and financial solvency requirements in the Region
  • Actively cooperate with Sunrun’s Licensing and Compliance Department as well as the Legal Department to complete licensing applications and maintain all Licenses
  • Maintain all Licenses, including but not limited to, pursuing continuing education classes, and completing further testing, as required
  • Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Possess strong mechanical/construction skills
  • Expert knowledge of the following codes: National Electric Codes; Underwriter Laboratories standards for rack-mounted PV systems; National and local fire safety codes and fire protection codes, including but not limited to NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 70; International Code Council codes; and state and local building safety codes and ordinances in the Region
  • Ability to follow instructions, clearly give instructions, learn quickly, and know when to ask questions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Operationally focused; detailed oriented but able to grasp the big picture
  • Proficient with Google Suite, MS Excel, MS Word and project management tools (MS Project)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Ability to work safely in a branch/warehouse/rooftop environment
  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and participate in meetings
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions
  • 50% Field work environment, 50% Office work environment

The starting salary for this opportunity ranges from $66,479 - $88, 639. Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards. Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). A candidate’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
