What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Sushi Chef position at sunset sushi?
Head Sushi Chef responsibilities include handling a wide range of raw fish and other ingredients, managing food inventory and working with an attention to detail. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with Japanese cuisine and Omakase.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitory food/dry goods inventory and order accordingly
Understand food cost
Creating new menu ideas
Prepare all types of sushi, including nigiri, sashimi & handrolls
Train new chefs
Add additional flavors with ginger, rice vinegar, wasabi and soy sauce, when appropriate
Manage food prep activities, like boiling rice and cutting fish
Preparing and executing of catering orders
Maintain hygiene principles in all cooking areas and clean your space at the end of the shift
Requirements
*Omakase experience!
*Work experience as a Sushi Chef
*Good knowledge of various sushi types and sushi-rolling techniques
*Ability to work both fast and accurately
Availability to work during nights, holidays & weekends
Flexibility to take on various shifts
Certification from a culinary school is a plus
Love working in a fast paced environment
Be outgoing and social with customers
Enjoys having fun and engaging with customers

Pay: $90,000.00 - $104,000.00 per year
