The Financial Aid Officer is responsible for verification and meeting with and advising students, parents and others to explain the details of the financial aid and awarding process, the laws and regulations governing the availability of and eligibility for federal, state, institutional and other external sources of aid.

Evening and weekend hours may be required.

This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid. It is classified as Academic Support Staff and the incumbent is a member of the Professional Staff Association.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business Management, Education Administration, Educational Leadership or related field. Bachelor’s preferred.

· Excellent computer skills, including experience with Jenzabar EX and various software packages.

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate as a team member on projects and initiatives.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.

· Ability to work with administration, faculty, staff, and students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance and Student Relations

· Monitors student attendance and academic progress prior to each check run to assure students are maintaining the required attendance and grades for each of the financial aid programs.

· Conducts and monitors biannual financial aid course evaluation and notifies the Learning Center and Registrar Offices of students enrolled in courses not required for their degree.

· Coordinates federal work study awards: maintain student data concerning job placement and earnings and communicate with supervisors as students approach earning limits.

· Distributes and collects student employee time cards and coordinates with the payroll office the data for each student’s payroll.

· Responsible for verifying documents needed for student employment including but not limited to W-4s.

· Coordinate the assignment of scholarships as individual students are identified through Admissions Office, Foundation Office and/or other sources. Serves as the point of contact for special populations such as “Say Yes” to Education.

· Processing EOP/SEEK letters for transfer students.

Customer Service and Administration

· Responsible for reviewing and answering all emails received at the office email address.

· Assist students and parents at the front counter with questions regarding financial aid procedures, cost of education, academic issues related to financial aid eligibility, direct loan counseling, bookstore and meal plan credit and billing statements.

· Collecting required verification documentation and certifying the accuracy of the data for student FAFSA results.

· Makes labels, folders and sends mail/email requests to all students.

· Monitors and properly maintains all student account payments and status in accordance with federal and state regulations and requirements.

· Coordinates with other campus personnel to ensure proper disbursement of federal, state and institutional funds.

· Ensures the accurate calculation and timely processing of all refunds.

· Collaborate ononline and printed publications to ensure for accuracy and easy navigation of the office’s website.

· Design and deliver appropriate communications to students and other stakeholders about financial aid.

· Assist with financial aid presentations at workshops, college nights and information literacy sessions.

· Conducts Information Literacy and Financial Aid Workshops.

· Assist students and parents with completion of the FAFSA and TAP applications.

· Processing ETV forms, Section Eight housing release forms for students and parents of students.

· Assists with verification of student folders, mailings, answering telephone and posting of documents received from students.

· Verifies and enters into Powerfaids all external sources of assistance and revises award letters.

· Perform other reasonable and appropriate duties as might be assigned from time-to-time by the Director of Financial Aid.
