THE JOB
Provide caregiving to adults with disabilities who reside in their own homes. Every client is different and requires different types of assistance.
THE SKILLS
The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication skills. You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help clients reach their goals such as losing weight, practicing social skills, learning to pay their bills, and learning to cook at home. Support Services are provided in the person’s home and in the community at times, based on each Individual's goals.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Performs personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks.
- Fosters positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served.
- Ensures client safety
- Reminds and assists clients with self-administration of medications.
- Encourages self-help activities.
- Reports changes in client’s condition or family situation to administrators and supervisors.
- Documents services provided on a daily log sheet.
- Performs home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning.
- Plans meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up.
- Accompanies clients to scheduled appointments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Direct Support Professional Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a client’s residence.
- Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
- Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license
$200 BONUS AFTER 90 WORKING DAYS!
$17.00-$20.00 D.O.E
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
