                                                          JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

Works under the direction of the production supervisor to provide support and leadership to their assigned packaging line or machinery.  Responsible for enforcement of GMP’s, completion of documents, and ability to operate machinery

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Supervisor and Production Manager to set goals for productivity and rework reduction.  Helps motivate team to hit daily targets.
  • Provides support and leadership to assigned production line through assisting and ensuring proper line set ups and daily verifications are completed.  Works with Supervisor to create and provide set up guides.
  • Provides support and leadership at the end of a production run by making specific assignments for returns, count verifications, clean up, set up, and tear down.
  • Verification and sign off on cleaning logs, secondary verification and sign off on first article, lot code/expiration/blend dates, and verification that all ancillary logs such as scale logs are signed off.
  • Training of employees on all batch record procedures including in-process quality checks, CCR changes, and work instructions.  Verifies that in-process checks are passing and that any non-conformances are dealt with per procedure.  Works with QA and Supervisor on non-conforming materials. 
  • Works with Supervisor to identify and train employees for key operator positions to provide back up and succession.
  • Responsible for inbound inventory verification, Oracle transactions of inventory used, inventory tracking on paperwork, and returning inventory physically and in Oracle.  Works with Material Supervisor and Warehouse Supervisor to resolve inventory issues.
  • Reporting run progress, quality and safety issues, and rework to Supervisor
  • Follows all GMP, SOP and safety rules regarding production line support.
  • Reviews batch record for completeness, fills out all information, notifies quality and supervisor of any quality issues.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and organization in line area by working with custodial for clean ups and ensuring prompt return of inventory to return lanes.
  • Any other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent plus 1-2 years’ work experience in production with nutraceutical or pharmaceutical environment preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to learn and operate machinery and provide troubleshooting input and set up assistance.  Long hours, rotating shifts, and weekends may be required.  Ability to send email communications and perform basic transactions in Oracle.  Strong communication skills and ability to provide leadership and motivation to team to hit targets and produce quality product.  Attention to detail and critical thinking to make key decisions.  Ability to keep proprietary information confidential. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a manufacturing environment which may include loud noise levels for extended periods of time, long hours standing, sitting, bending, twisting, walking, climbing stairs, strong odors, lifting up to 70 lbs, confined spaces, warm and cold temperatures, wet/slippery and slick surface environment.  The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
