What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Generalist position at Surface Experts Franchising?
Surface Experts is a growing franchise system based in Spokane, WA, with new franchises coming online each month. We care about our people: that they love where they work and who they work with. As our system grows, we need to add a part-time (15 – 20 hours weekly) Human Resources Generalist who is well equipped to help build and support our expanding team.
We are looking for an HR Generalist to help guide employees through various human resource processes, answer any questions they may have about policies, establish new policies and procedures, and help establish boundaries between the franchisor and franchisees. This job includes, but is not limited to, tasks such as: supporting current staff by addressing employee grievances or conflicts, managing preliminary recruiting processes, drafting templates for HR documents, following up with Unemployment and L&I services, assisting franchisees with procedure options, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Assists hiring manager(s) in full-cycle recruiting, contacting references, and performing background checks on applicants.
- Creates onboarding plan and educates newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations.
- Generates official internal documents such as offer letters and coaching forms.
- Maintains physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records.
- Collaborates with Leadership Team in evaluating employee performance, potential pay increases, and Performance Improvement Plans.
- Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Assists in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A background in HR of 3 years
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

Compensation: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.
