Job Summary
The Medical Scribe is responsible for recording a provider’s interactions and discussions with patients in the electronic health record and assisting with clerical duties related to medical documentation. Primary duties include recording a provider’s interactions with patients, filling out paperwork, summaries and referral letters after a visit and entering data into the EHR. On occasion, the Medical Scribe may assist the Medical Assistant by working patients up, taking vital signs, documenting information into the EHR, cleaning exam rooms and instruments, stocking exam rooms, preparing specimens for the lab, checking nurse messages and performing patient call backs, and scheduling appointments and procedures as necessary.

Responsibilities:
● Takes notes during patient visits and documents them thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record system.
● Learns the medical terminology and processes for complete and accurate documentation.
● Works with a supervising provider to complete and submit medical records.
● Completes all administrative tasks efficiently and helps the provider manage patient documentation, orders, and electronic prescriptions.
● Works as a team with the provider and Medical Assistant to ensure provider clinic runs smoothly.
● Interacts with patients and staff in a professional and polite manner at all times, treating them with respect and kindness.
● Maintains accurate records in electronic chart, with attention to maintaining security and patient privacy.
● Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Other Clinical and Administrative Duties:
● Willingness to learn and perform other clinical functions.
● Assists with patient scheduling
● Cleans and stocks exam rooms.
● Answering / returning patient phone calls.
● Occasionally, other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● Proven work experience as a Medical Scribe or similar role.
● Ability to expertly document patient care and transcribe patient interactions.
● Assure the accuracy of all documentation and records
● Demonstrated technical proficiency with electronic health records.
● Computer and typing proficiency required.
● Strong organizational and time management skills.
● Attention to detail
● Professional appearance and behavior.
● High school diploma or GED
