What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Dietitian position at Sutter Health?

Position Overview:
The clinical dietitian, under the direction of the Food Service Manager, is responsible for all areas of patient screening, assessment, monitoring of nutrition therapies, and education of patients and/or family members.  Must be proficient in providing nutrition care to all types of patients including pediatric, geriatric, oncology, diabetic, renal, cardiac, and acute patients.  The dietitian is responsible for education of DNS staff (intra-departmentally) on nutrition related issues and for establishing and maintaining effective input into Cbord.
 
A full-service acute care facility serving the residents of Tracy for over 50 years, Sutter Tracy Community Hospital (STCH) has a total of 82 inpatient beds. STCH provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services including: a 24-hour emergency department, inpatient and ambulatory surgical services, endoscopy lab, coronary care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory and rehabilitation services including physical, speech and occupational therapy. STCH also has specialized care for Hemodialysis, Family Birthing Center, Continence Center and a Pain Management Center. STCH affiliated with Sutter Health in 1993.


Qualifications:
Education / Licensure / Certification:  B.S. degree in nutrition or related field required. Registered Dietitian preferred.
 
Experience: A minimum of one year experience in an acute care setting is preferred in one or more of the following areas:  Nutrition Support, pediatrics, cardiac, renal, outpatient counseling, diabetic or oncology. Six (6) months computer experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English including the ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage own time and schedule own tasks.
  • Must have initiative to work efficiently without constant supervision directions.
