Position Overview:
Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and documenting educational and staff development activities. This includes department orientation, training, and competency programs, conducting and organizing in-services as needed to ensure staff competencies. Develops and/or revises hospital and Clinical Laboratory Services policies, processes and procedures and assists in the maintenance of educational and competency records to meet regulatory and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. Establishes and maintains affiliations with Schools of Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Phlebotomy and/or Medical Laboratory Technology. May serve as a preceptor for Clinical Laboratory students on rotation. Coordinates continuing education programs. Works varied hours to provide these educational services for all shifts. May work as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to maintain clinical skills and contribute to the performance / efficiency of the department.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent education/experience
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
- CLSL-Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years experience possesses knowledge of, and has expertise with, clinical services provided by department, including: Microscopy, Microbiology, Immunology, Pre-analytical processes.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of quality control, quality assurance and laboratory information systems is required.

Basic computer literacy is required.

Communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.

Ability to act as a primary preceptor to Clinical Laboratory students.

Ability to work independently and as a team member within the department as well as with a variety of healthcare specialists.

Pay Range: $63.37 - $79.20
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
