Touch-Up and Soldering Technician
Position Summary
Virtually all PCB assemblies are processed through Touch-Up. It is the Touch-Up and Soldering Technician’s responsibility to inspect, repair, and rework Printed Circuit Assemblies from the manufacturing line, and assure accurate and timely completion of each job. The Lead Touch-Up and Soldering Technician supervises junior Touch-Up and Soldering Technicians and assures that they have the necessary training, tools, materials, and documentation to complete their jobs. Job tasks and priorities for the Touch-Up group are assigned by the Lead Technician.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Touch-Up and Soldering Technicians in correct soldering, touch-up procedures, and installation of electronic components and hardware
- Provide job planning and scheduling for the Touch-Up
- establish priorities for Touch-Up and Soldering
- Assure on-schedule completion of Touch-Up and Re-work jobs.
- Monitor the condition of tools and equipment such as microscopes, soldering tools, and hand tools, and requisition replacements as needed
- Maintain and update assembly information, including Traveler entries and ManEx note updates

The Production Manager
Qualifications and Requirements
- Training in correct soldering technique
- Thorough knowledge of correct Surface Mount component installation
- Familiarity with no-clean and lead-free soldering and rework.
- Ability to use basic handheld measurement equipment
- Able to perform pad and trace repair down to .02"mm pitch and .005" width
- Basic schematic reading ability for modifications and/or other rework applications
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of internal company standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of IPC-610 class D and IPC-600 workmanship guidelines
- Familiarity with Electro-static Discharge precautions
- Attention to detail
- Good organizational skills
Experience:
- Requires prior experience working with Surface Mount and Through Hole PC Board assembly, soldering, inspection, re-work, and repair.
- Requires experience working with current component technology, including semiconductor package types, and electro-mechanical components.
- Solder paste and hot plate application experience
- Familiarity with Electro-static Discharge precautions
Additional Technical Skills and Experience (a plus):
- Prior experience as a QA inspector
- Soldering Certification
