Decorator Job Description
Swanky Scoop is an independent and locally owned artisan dairy and non-dairy ice cream store. Featuring premium small batch ice creams and sorbets made on premise, Swanky Scoop also serves waffle cones, cakes, pies, and cookies (for ice cream sandwiches). With an opportunity to grow your creative baking/decorating talents, your contributions will be seen on a daily basis.
Looking to grow our decorating team, which is responsible for decorating ice cream cakes, pie shell assembly and cooking/baking. Are you creative, independent, organized, and passionate about crafting quality products? There is room to grow with this up and coming company.
Salary: $17 - $25 an hour, depending on experience and education.
Available shifts: Day shifts, hours/days are flexible/negotiable. Weekend and holiday shifts available. Estimated 10-15 hours per week.
Job Type: Part-time
Qualifications: Ideally 1 year decorating in a professional kitchen environment or formal culinary/baking arts program. Scrappy but serious home cook who's passionate about baking with strong cleanliness and organizational skills, willing to train.
Responsibilities of the Decorator includes the following:
-Follow pre-set signature cake designs and show creative initiative for new cake design or specialty items.
- Maintain food storage areas and receive, store and rotate food stock.
- Follow recipes accurately and efficiently to meet the production schedule.
- Understands food allergy and dietary restriction protocols and procedures.
- Produce quality finished products that go out directly to customers.
- Organize, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Coordinate with management catering/special event menus.
- Kitchen clean up; clean as you go and support your fellow colleagues, periodic deep cleaning when necessary.
- Handles all working material and equipment with care and keeps it clean.
- Report all necessary repairs to the owner or kitchen manager.
- Proficient with proper sanitation procedures and follows Public Health requirements.
Attire and grooming: Must wear closed toed skid-proof shoes, apron and head wear. Hair must be worn pulled back and away from face. Nails unvarnished.
Mandatory requirements:
Valid King County food worker card (food handler permit) or the ability to get it.
Legally able to work in the United States.
Able to be on your feet for long periods of time, bend over, reach up overhead.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Able to withstand brief periods of cold temperatures in walk-in refrigerator and freezer.
Able to work in environments with loud machine sounds (freezers, mixers, dishwasher, ice cream makers, etc.
Able to read and mathematically compute recipes to scale up or down.
