Manufacturing Engineer

Swarm Aero is building the largest UAV swarm in the world and the only Group 5 UAV swarm. This long-range, low-cost UAV is designed to endure near hotspots in Europe and Asia, keeping democracies free by making it impractical to invade & occupy free people. 

Our team has years of aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Stratolaunch, Airbus Vahana, Airflow, Boom Supersonic, Blue Origin, Uber Elevate, and Embraer. We’ve previously done billions in tech deals involving DOD and built software platforms supporting millions of users, cutting edge AI, and ultra-low latency trading. 

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will help us design, model, and build the new manufacturing operations from the ground up, allowing us to deliver aircraft at volumes that haven’t been seen since WWII. 

What You’ll Do 

• Drive a culture of “design for manufacturing,” working with teammates across various disciplines to make the right trades between performance and manufacturability. Assess and assist with aircraft design for ease of manufacturability in a collaborative IPT environment  

• Build medium to high-level fidelity simulations of material handling, part manufacturing and machining, and vehicle assembly processes in a digital environment 
• Assess applications of automation to enable high rate manufacturing 
• Establish production manufacturing process flows starting at low rate initial production 
• Identify high-risk and bottleneck areas and propose process improvements 
• Establish production framework with MES and ERP 

What You’ve Done 

• Participated in the planning, build-out and operation of high-rate industrial manufacturing 
• Designed large mechanical structures and systems in aviation, automotive, robotics, or comparable applications 
• Created detailed digital simulations of factory operations and manufacturing processes 
• Implemented high-rate, automated manufacturing processes  

What Sets You Apart 

• Graduate degree in mechanical, aerospace, industrial, or other relevant engineering discipline 
• Participated in the early planning and execution of complex integrated vehicle system manufacturing with emphasis on structural assemblies and mechanical systems  
• Familiarity with Manufacturing 4.0 ecosystem 
• Familiarity with composite fabrication, assembly and inspection techniques 
• Experience working in a small company and nimble environment. Comfortable operating with minimal supervision and guidance
