What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Marketplace position at Sweetwater Sound?
Sweetwater, the nation's #1 online retailer of musical instruments & pro audio gear is looking to add a Director of Marketplace to our growing eCommerce team, leading the Marketplace Channel group. In this role, you will be accountable for sales growth of our Amazon, eBay, & Reverb stores. A positive attitude, and the ability to proactively work with cross-functional teams is essential.
This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, analytical, creative, & communication skills. A successful candidate will be a highly organized self-starter with a business ownership mentality of our eCommerce marketplace channels, utilizing data and diving into strategy solutions to optimize marketing efforts into our channels and driving sales forward.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and measure channel performance - providing weekly and monthly reporting, and recommendations for continuous improvement
- Create and organize bundle listings on our eCommerce platforms in coordination with our team to advance our marketplace strategy & sales
- Craft and manage targeted product category strategies per external channel alongside our merchant team
- Exercise ownership and organization of marketplace channels with a deep understanding of platforms and product variations
- Assist in optimizing feeds and managing technical business logic within our channel management solution
- Audit live listings and troubleshoot products to ensure all SKUs designated to channels are live without issues
- Manage the setup, presentation, & optimization of our products on marketplace channels to drive explosive growth
- Ensure naming, photography, descriptions, and attributes are optimized and consistent across sites to take advantage of each marketplaces unique offerings (search engine optimization, ad campaigns and more)
- Perform regular site analysis and make recommendations to accounts to maximize conversion, sales, and representation of our brand
- Monitor marketplace compliance, communicate issues, and resolve problems
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic projects
- Assist in project coordination with external teams where appropriate
- Work closely with our Merchandising and Inventory teams to report on inventory sell throughs, opportunities, and/or issues
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in eCommerce/Marketing/Merchandising experience in the retail industry
- Deep understanding of retail marketplaces, margin, omni-channel sales, and all around retail strategy
- Experience working in a tech-forward environment, with an understanding of web technology and solutions
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with others to advance projects and effectively solve problems
- Strong understanding of excel and advanced formulas
- Experience maintaining Data Feeds
- Analytical mindset & the ability to solve Complex Problems
- Understanding of SEO principals and the application in many different platforms
- Ability to work in a fast paced-ever changing environment
- Ability to multi-task & think outside the box
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, Economics or related field
