Swine Vet Center of St. Peter, MN is looking to hire a full-time Human Resources Manager. This position is responsible for aligning business objectives with HR solutions both at our on-site location and at farm sites our firm manages. It is essential for this position to learn the business, develop strong relationships, deliver value added support and to drive a positive working environment.

At the Swine Vet Center, we work hand in hand with progressive and multi-generational pork producers to deliver swine medicine while also being at the forefront of swine research. Our dedicated support staff and highly skilled swine veterinarians have more than 180 years of practice experience and scientific know-how. We share a goal with our customers which is to produce safe, nutritious, delicious and sustainable pork while maintaining the highest standards for herd health and animal welfare.

Essential Functions

  • Consults with ownership and management to provide HR advice and council (coaching, counseling, development, disciplinary actions, etc.).
  • Leads recruitment efforts for all positions, including to write and develop job postings; places advertisements; works with hiring managers to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking; extends job offers; coordinates new-employee orientations.
  • Leads the international recruitment process, assisting in the successful placement on farm sites.
  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicates needs proactively to management and owners; seeks to develop integrated solutions.
  • Works closely with ownership, management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Establishes and maintains HR department records and reports; produces accurate reports as required.
  • Assists with processing of new employees and terminations; as well as worker’s compensation claims.
  • Monitors training programs to ensure required training and onboarding tasks are completed successfully.
  • May assist with health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations.
  • Assists in the development and administration of company recognition programs; assists in organizing company-sponsored events or activities.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources or related field.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in human resources or related field.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
  • Experience coordinating the TN visa process.
