We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team at a correctional facility. As a Registered Nurse in this unique setting, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive medical care to incarcerated individuals. This challenging and rewarding position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those within the correctional system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive medical care to inmates, including health screenings, treatments, and emergency response.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members and correctional staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with facility policies.
- Respond to medical emergencies promptly and take necessary actions to stabilize patients.
- Conduct patient assessments and report any changes in condition to healthcare providers.
- Assist with minor medical procedures and daily sick call triage.
- Participate in disaster preparedness and emergency planning.
- Enforce safety and security policies to create a secure environment for staff and inmates.
Qualifications:
- Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama.
- Minimum of one year nursing experience, preferably in a correctional, public health, or acute care setting.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Willingness to undergo background checks required for working in a correctional facility.
