Syms Strategic Group, LLC (SSG) is in search of a talented Program Manager with extensive Department of the Interior (DOI) experience.

Location:  Washington, DC

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

The role of program management is to drive coordination, standardization, improved maturity and a tighter integration across the SPPI functions and with other workstreams. The program management function is critical to keeping focus on key priorities, while being flexible and adaptable to be responsive to emerging demands in DOI. Specific requirements include:

  • Contract Management;
  • Establish and maintain a Work Breakdown Structure and monitor performance against a Project Plan and Schedule for all contract tasks;
  • Establish team operating procedures and protocol;
  • Develop a Program Plan;
  • Support the integration between applicable orginizational functions;
  • Manage the central Strategy, Portfolio Planning and Integration (SPPI) Branch Team Email account;
  • Meeting support: scheduling, logistical set up, meeting material preparation, and meeting minutes;
  • Action Item Tracking and Management across branch;
  • Develop, manage and maintain collaboration site;
  • Document processes;
  • Technical editing & reviews of branch deliverables; and
  • Communications Support for briefing materials.

Required Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor degree.  Masters or higher preferred
  • PMP certification
  • Demonstrated expertise with MS Project
  • Previous DOI experience
  • Knowledged of Federal IT Capital Planning
  • Knowledge of DOI Enterprise Architecture (EA)
  • Knowledge of IRM Governance
  • Microsoft Office 2010 products including Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
  • 8+ years of project management experience in government environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management and quality assurance standards and methodologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices for project management, software engineering and business processes, such as: PMIs PMBOK Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3), Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and Agile/Scrum

U.S Citizenship is required for this specific opportunity and all selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation.  This includes but not limited to; meeting the eligibility requirements for access to classified information and the ability to obtain a government-granted security clearance.
