Responsibilities
The Oncology Clinical Nurse Educator (OCNE) interacts with healthcare clinicians (PA, NP, Nurses, Pharmacists, Techs, support staff) in key targeted accounts and provide clinical in-services/educational presentations. The OCNE identifies educational needs and expand disease state awareness, understanding of symptom management and appropriate patient identification through these educational interactions within a defined geographical region.
The OCNE reports directly to the national clinical oncology director within product strategy and works collaboratively as a cross-functional partner with other regional field colleagues. Ideal location of a candidate is the lower Michigan peninsula, most of Ohio, and the western half of Pennsylvania.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
- Primarily conducts in-person engagements with the healthcare community within the territory, with occasional virtual interaction when requested or required.
- Evaluate customer's relevant educational needs.
- Provide relevant disease state education to Clinicians.
- Educate Clinicians on appropriate patient identification and management of each approved product and their accompanying indications.
- Identify key Clinicians in targeted accounts.
- Provide support for local Patient Advocacy groups and meetings.
- Attend and support relevant conferences and meetings (national/regional/local).
Job Requirements
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing
- 5 year's clinical oncology/hematology experience.
- Oncology/hematology experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech industry is a plus.
- Current active nursing license (*consideration may be given with current, active PA license).
- Experience in academic or community oncology practice working with Hem/MPN patients.
- Disease state educator experience.
- Experience and relationships with health care clinicians within assigned region.
- Ability to travel regionally & overnight at least 50%.
- Ability to work nights & weekends as needed.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work autonomously with efficient time management skills.
- A passion for patients is essential.
