Job Description
Perform QC laboratory chemical analysis to support production. This includes analysis of raw materials, process intermediates, agricultural formulations, and environmental samples. The Quality Control Analyst will also analyze samples for residual impurities and perform instrument maintenance on analytical instrumentation in the lab. The test methods, in most part, are established and routine. Under supervision from QC Manager and QC Chemists, troubleshoot and make recommendations on solving batch formulation quality issues based on Syngenta manufacturing and quality control specifications or government policies. Shift work is required, this person must be available to work night shifts and alternative schedules as needed.
Duties:
- Support all safety and compliance requirements. Must be fully knowledgeable of and compliant with all Syngenta safety policies and operating procedures. Must contribute to a strong safety culture.
- Provide analytical data and support to operations to ensure efficient operation and production of quality products.
- Provide accurate, timely and defensible data to operations units and/or regulatory agencies.
- Ensure that all reported data are produced following established SOPs and QA/QC criteria.
- Maintain retention sample storage area.
- Assist in general housekeeping for the lab including proper disposal of chemicals.
- Report results of out of specifications product according to established procedures and criteria and assist in corrective action where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with QC testing using chromatographic instrumentation (HPLC, UPLC, GC, LC/MS, FT-NIR) or aptitude to learn and operate this technology effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, word, Power point, Outlook).
- Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferred.
- Successful candidates for this role typically have 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Able to successfully apply scientific principles and technical experience to business challenges relevant for Syngenta.
