Seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer with 10-20 years of experience in bridge design to join our established transportation practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects in a unique and dynamic work environment. In this role you will be responsible for the successful performance of structural design/analysis of bridges along with the preparation of construction plans, project specifications, and quantity/cost estimates. You will also work closely with other teams on multi-disciplinary projects, including bridge, roadway, traffic, rail, site, and public transit. It is expected that you will function as a lead technical design engineer and/or project manager, will work independently, will supervise the work of less experienced engineers and mentor them as you help to develop their technical and inter-personal skills.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in new project pursuits, including qualifications and technical proposal preparation, Scope of Service and Fee Proposal development, and networking opportunities through professional society events.
General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare and/or preferably direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for bridge design projects.
- Receive instructions from Senior Project Managers as to the general results expected.
- Review project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
- Be responsible for accuracy of engineering design and plan preparation, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
- Show understanding of team management, develop project scope of work, estimate manpower needs, prepare CPM schedules and track project progress.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Perform as a staff advisor and consultant to technical specialty.
- Perform site inspections of existing bridges to determine conditions.
- Perform site inspections of bridge construction projects to evaluate conformance with contract plans and specifications.
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from a 4-yr accredited college or university.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in FL.
- Minimum of 10 years of related bridge design experience.
- Strong background in the development construction plans for FDOT bridge projects
- Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and FDOT Bridge Manual code requirements.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), and experience with engineering design packages such as MicroStation (required), LEAP Bridge, MathCAD and/or other structural analysis software systems (FDOT Bridge Software).
