Overview
Reports to the plant Human Resources Manager in support of his/her goals of Building Capability, developing Associate Engagement, and ensuring Talent Sourcing and Development. Has sufficient expertise in specific areas such as payroll, benefits, associate relations, and others, to allow independent work and responsibility for the assigned subject matter. Also possesses and applies a general knowledge of human resources principles and subjects. Understands and supports associate policies and procedures. Supports the Human Resources Manager’s goals by coordinating projects, assists with associate learning and development activities, and maintains timely and accurate completion of assigned administrative responsibilities. Must be well- organized, maintain a professional demeanor, and maintain the trust and confidence of associates.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the recruitment of associates and the hiring process through iCIMS applicant system.
- Creates and maintains all associate personnel files in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Coordinate onboarding process including new hire orientations and paperwork.
- Maintains attendance tracking system (absenteeism, vacation, leave of absences, FMLA); generates reports on a weekly basis.
- Processes weekly hourly payroll, and bi-weekly salary payroll using Kronos timekeeping system, resolves errors, researches associate payroll questions.
- Assist with the coordination of benefits programs; includes insurance and benefit enrollments and provides information and direction to associate benefit questions.
- Coordinates uniform program, takes orders, handles repairs/replacements, researches associate questions/issues, and serves as liaison between associate and uniform vendor.
- Assists with coordinating temporary associates; includes dispatching temporary associates, submitting timecards, and processing invoices.
- Assists with planning and conducting meetings and events.
- Supports compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
- Performs routine daily tasks related to the operations of the HR function and the delivery of HR services and programs to associates, applicants, and relevant third parties. Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma plus additional study, Associates degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-3 years administrative experience, preferably in a HR-related field.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities and work styles.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of PowerPoint, Kronos, & HRIS a plus.
- General knowledge of Human Resources practices and principles as well as CA law are strongly preferred.
Working Conditions/Environment
Works primarily in an office environment, with 25% or less time in a manufacturing environment, where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Requires some lifting of moderately heavy items such as file boxes. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may periodically be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment. The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
